MEETS allows Instructors to generate a shareable link for:

  • Inviting external guests to future web conferencing events. Instructors can choose between having the invite link be solely for the live session or for access the event's recordings as well.
  • Sharing a link to past web conferencing events' recordings.

Shareable links can be useful for linking to events from inside another course-specific resource.

Links can be set to expire as well as have various authentication levels as elaborated upon below.

As a prerequisite, your MEETS administrator will have to configure the authentication requirements for users generating meeting links

Shareable links can be generated by selecting the event in the Event Calendar and clicking the "Invite Guests" icon.

Clicking the "Invite Guests" icon will open the following window:

Note: The following options are contingent on your administrator allowing them.

The default view, enables the instructor to give this link to anyone and they will have access to the specified events. These can be used outside your organization.

The invite options also include:

  • Recordings Access: Set whether recordings for this event can be viewed using this link.
  • Link Expiration: Set a time limit, after which the link will expire.

If your administrator enabled authentication options, you have the following options contingent on your administrator allowing them

When generating a link, MEETS allows Instructors to choose between different authentication levels. Depending on the requirements set by your administrator, some of the options may not be available. If your administrator has enabled the "Global" option only, you will see the option to share the link without specific mentioning of the various authentication levels.

  • Authentication Requirement:
    • Global: An instructor can give this link to anyone and they will have access to the specified events. These can be used outside your organization.
    • Authenticated: Anyone who has a link cannot access events without being authenticated via one of the organization's authentication services. This can limit who is able to access events to those within your organization.
    • Targeted: Only someone who authenticates with one of your organization's authentication services using a particular e-mail address is able to access an event. This can be used to invite specific people within your organization to events.
    • Course User: Requires authentication with an email address matching a user who is a member of the same course an event belongs to. This can be used to place links to events inside another course-specific resource, such as course pages on Learning Management Systems.
  • Recordings Access: Set whether recordings for this event can be viewed using this link.
  • Link Expiration: Set a time limit, after which the link will expire.

After selecting the above settings, Instructors can choose between copy/pasting a link, or sending the link via email to external invitees.
